Fix Cracked and Missing Tile Grout

I have been living in my apartment for years now, and there is a huge chunk of missing grout between my kitchen tiles. I've noticed it for years, but I never did anything about it. It's gotten so bad (spreading to several tiles) that I finally had enough and decided to actually fix it! Grout is known for being daunting and hard to deal with, so I was nervous doing this project, but it turned out to be really easy! Once I got the tools together, it only took me a couple of minutes! And now those cracks aren't filling up with crumbs anymore. This project was definitely worthwhile. We want to help you DIY, so some of the materials in this post are linked to sellers. So I Painted Our Ugly Linoleum....

I saw a this picture on Joanna Gaines' IG a few months back and I had major heart eyes over this floor, but replacing the tile in our guest bathroom wasn't/isn't an option for us. Fast forward to last month and I was still drooling over this tile so I did what any reasonable person would do - I went on Pinterest. I looked at more floors and the caption on one of them caught my eye.... "The Girl Who Painted her Tile...WHAT?!" I found myself on Remington Avenue's blog and then the next thing I know I am at Hobby Lobby buying paint! I looked at their stencils too but our linoleum was 12x12 and I didn't find any big enough there so I ended up ordering one online through cuttingedgestencils.com. I followed the steps on Mysha's blog but did a few things differently/use a few different products so I thought I'd share my experience with you.

Hexagon Tile Floor Transition Entrance

After seeing numerous photos of Hexagon Tiles organically transitioning into hardwood flooring, I had to attempt this technique. I hadn’t seen any conclusive tutorials on doing this transition so I was left to my own devices. The final product turned out really sharp and has held up perfectly since it was installed two years ago.I will be installing a Zebrawood engineered hardwood flooring. This means it has a thin veneer of Zebrawood mounted on an MDF substrate and a little layer of cork on the bottom. It is important to have the tiles sitting approximately 1/16″ – 1/8″ higher than the hardwood floors. This is to minimize damage to the frail Zebrawood veneer.

# Budget upgrade Good Bye Popcorn Ceiling

What an easy and relatively inexpensive way to cover up the 80's popcorn ceiling . No mess no scraping. Just glue up ( we used cheap caulk for the adhesive) These ultra lite tiles made of recycled Styrofoam are easy to cut and can be painted.It would have cost around $1200 to have the old ceiling scraped down and another $1200 to have it refinished and painted . I spent around $600 total. I think it looks fantastic and with out all the mess !

Basement Make Over.

Remodeled basement from 70's paneling and suspended ceiling. Used 8 ft. furring 1"x2" stripes on the ceiling, new can lights. There was drywall behind the paneling and patched, sanded and repainted it. New MDF casing around doors, windows and baseboards. Saved carpet in half the room and used vinyl plank on the rest. Replaced slider with a new center swing door. In bedroom, put blocks on the ceiling and installed the backside of car siding, repainted and new MDF trim. Ran gas pipe across ceiling for future efficiency kitchen. Bathroom , backside of car siding on wall, replaced vanity and floor.
