Maple Hutch Makeover DIY
This was my Mother’s hutch that I dusted every weekend growing up. I have wanted to update it for years but felt like my Mom would yell from above...Lisa..why are you covering up that wood? I decided to finally do it!
Took off all hardware and wiped down with TSP. I did NO sanding.
I said to my sister one day....what do you think about me painting Moms hutch..her reply...or just get rid of it, it’s ugly. Ughhh
I still wanted to leave some original on here so the wood was still showing. Decided the top would stay the same.
Yes...I did everything inside. It was too hot outside.
This was my first time using this chalk paint. I am not a fan of it.
Easy part
Well...it took 2-3 coats.
All brass off and spray painted gloss white. I wasn’t sure on this part, but went for it anyway. I couldn’t get new fixtures. Do you know these were 1.5 inches. Yes, I could have plugged holes and red rules, but no 😊
Used the Valspar spray paint. Outside.
My husband really like it without the top. So it stayed like this for another 2 weeks till I finished.
I decided to paint the back of it white to offset the handles. Well I had already decided that, which is why the handles were painted white. Haha. Just trying to mess y’all up. And it’s done.
Before collage
After collage
This is what it looks like all loaded back up. I did manage to get rid of a lot of stuff. Oh...and I didn’t paint the inside. Shhhhhsh.
