How to Make a DIY Pool Noodle Cooler For Your Swimming Pool

You will need a plastic container (Amazon) - one that is more shallow than deep - so it will not tip over.

You'll also need  rope, (I used a cotton wash line) one pool noodle (Amazon), scissors, and a utility knife Amazon.

1. Measure the pool noodle against the container

Lay the noodle along the long side of the container to determine the size.

2. Cut the pool noodle

Carefully cut the noodle to size.

You will need two long pieces of noodle.

Lay the first cut noodle along side of the big noodle and cut one more piece.

For the shorter ends of the container, lay the noodle along side of the short end of the container to determine the size and cut.

Once you have one short noodle cut, lay it along side of the big noodle and cut another piece.

You should have two short noodles and two long noodles.

Depending on the size of your plastic container you may have noodle left over.

3. Thread rope through the pool noodles

Thread the rope through each piece of noodle beginning with a short piece. Then continue with a long piece, then a short piece, then a long piece.

4. Create the pull string

Lay each of the pieces around the plastic container.

Determine how long a piece of rope you would like to use as a "pull string" or to use to tie to your raft.

Cut the rope and tie the ends together securing the noodles around the plastic container.

The noodles will be loose but once you put the cooler into the water, the noodles will surround the plastic container.

After you've cut the rope, if you decide you need a longer "pull string" you can always tie more rope onto the noodles.
