Faux Brick Feature Wall
My sons room was looking a little drab on one side, the wall was just plain and the furniture on that side just didn’t flow. It needed something so I decided to get out the paint and make a feature wall.

I’d seen a few people use stencils & paint, but I decided to try something a little different and use just a sponge and a level eye. 😅
I bought a pack of sponges from my local super market and cut one down to the size and shape I wanted the bricks to be.
If I were to redo this project I would actually buy a thicker sponge as it would be easier to hold when covered in paint.
Once I had the shape of my sponge, I also trimmed the edges down a little. I wanted these bricks to look rustic and not too much of a perfect rectangle.
Next, I found an old container and poured a very little amount of paint into it. You don’t want it to be too deep otherwise it will be hard to get the sponge out without making a mess.
I then just started in one corner of the wall, putting the sponge into the paint and then dabbing it onto the wall.
I do have a pretty level eye and a lot of patience so I didn’t pre-mark anything on the wall, I basically just took my time and guessed based on the distance from the roof etc.
I did a few bricks at a time and then stood back to check they were staying straight and kept going on.
For someone not as confident or if you were doing an entire wall, I’d recommend marking the bricks out first or use a level as you go.
Originally I was going to do the entire wall, but seeing as I was using quite a dark colour and there was already a lot going on in the room, I figured I’d just do a half wall, keeping it random and in tie with his rustic themed room.
This only took me just over an hour to complete. It was so easy and I’m so happy with how it’s transformed the room!

The bricks look great, but what I really want to know is if the helicopter TURNED DIRECTIONS?!?! 🫣
I'm going to do it but wondered if you used interior paint, craft paint or chalk paint.
