Stairway Gallery Wall

For the price of 2 cans of spray paint and some time, I turned a bunch of mismatched frames into a cohesive and chic gallery wall leading upstairs. I know many of us have frames that we have collected throughout the years, picked up at yard sales, or even given to us as gifts and what do we do with them? We hang them, set them, or put them away and think one day I will get around to doing something with them. Well, now is the time!
I had wooden and metal frames of different shapes, depths, and sizes and over the years I even collected collage frames that were scattered throughout the house or put away in a box. I never could get myself to bring them all together until I took time recently and went through all my photos and framed the best memories/pictures of family-past and present. It took hours but the results are worth it. I still have 2 more walls in the upstairs hallway to complete (waiting on photos and have to find more frames LOL).
Spray paint is our friend. It can spruce things up, cover up ugly, and change something from blah to fab. I hope this inspires you to create your own gallery wall and display your best family memories for all to enjoy!

Beautiful display of your family photos. Love the various types and sizes of frames you have chosen. Great job.

Thank you for sharing this unused space and showing others how to make it become an eye catching space. I have four levels in my house (final retirement home after 26 moves). I used shadow boxes for my children’s weddings in black frames then did each grandchild so to go up a level it’s fun to put the new school pictures on each grandchild and then add words along with the upward scale. Now I’m going down to the family room and the rest of the bedrooms. So it’s a good tie to the rest of the space but not limited. So far it’s just a lot of compliments and of course it’s a conversation starter. Add in the gorgeous prints of my favorite artists that my youngest child brings back from the many countries and places that are part of the job and it’s really fun to share them. It’s not really any rules but more about using the same color of frame and following the pattern of odd numbers for the collections up space. Use your space and if you’re really interested in creating something special don’t forget about the ceilings. It’s a great way to bring your own style and add some texture. I like the plain stamped look of wallpaper on the ceiling and it can be used to create a nice tile look or even do a massive piece that you put together by number from a favorite piece of art or photo blown up to a large scale. Again it’s following the same flow of colors. FUN and STUNNING.
