Why I Never Wanted to Leave the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid
When I think about the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, there are a few things that immediately come to mind.
Space.
Comfort and styling.
Driving experience.
Those were the things I noticed the most during our time with it, and they are also the things that matter most to me in a family vehicle.Â
We have five people in our family, plus four dogs, so I need a vehicle that can handle a lot of people and a lot of stuff. The Grand Highlander gave us that space without making the inside feel overwhelming. Everyone had room to get comfortable, which makes a huge difference when you spend a lot of time driving around town.Â
And the seats? I really loved them. A comfortable driver's seat is one of those things you don't always think about until you spend hours in a vehicle. Between work, errands, kids' activities, and weekend trips, I am in the car a lot. The Grand Highlander's seats made those drives much more enjoyable.Â
The other thing that really stood out to me was how smooth it drove. It was noticeably smoother than other vehicles I've driven, and I found myself really enjoying the drive instead of just thinking about getting from one place to another.
The hybrid aspect was another big feature for me. I used the Eco option during our everyday driving and was really impressed with the gas mileage. With as much driving as our family does, that is something I absolutely appreciate.
Then there were the features that made me want to stay in the car a little longer. The sound system was one of my favorites. Whether we were listening to music on a road trip or just driving around town, it made the experience better. Our jam sessions on our trips were enjoyed by the whole family!
The infotainment system is seamlessly integrated in the vehicle and is intuitive to use. We utilized Carplay effortlessly and worked perfectly.Â
And I loved the sunroof/moonroof! It made the interior feel open and bright, which I especially noticed on our mountain drive, it made the views amazing!
I also really enjoyed the redesigned exterior. The Grand Highlander has a modern look while still feeling like a practical family SUV. That combination is important to me because I want something that works for our family but also looks good pulling into the driveway.
And, of course, there is the Toyota name. Toyota has always been a brand I associate with vehicles that families can count on for years, and that gave me an added level of confidence in the Grand Highlander. After spending time with it, what I appreciated most was that none of these features existed in isolation.
The space, comfort, hybrid efficiency, smooth ride, technology, and design all came together to make a vehicle that worked really well for our family. It felt comfortable enough for everyday life and capable enough for our weekend adventures. And that is exactly what I want from a family SUV.
The exterior redesign looks so sleek, yet practical. I liked that it felt modern and updated without losing that classic Toyota SUV look. It has enough presence to feel like a family SUV, but it still looks stylish. Â
Inside, there were several things that made me genuinely excited to get in the car. I loved the sound system, and the sunroof/moonroof made the whole interior feel even more open, and the styling of the interior was great.
So far, my first impression of the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid is that it is a really good balance of the things our family actually needs.
- It has the space for our family.
- It has the comfort I need for everyday driving.
- It has the hybrid efficiency I was looking for.
I actually look forward to driving this car. Weekend road trips, here we come thanks to the Grand Highlander! We have already used it for everything from everyday errands and running the kids around town to getting out into the mountains for a day.
And honestly, that is probably the biggest compliment I can give it so far. It fits into our life and overall makes our day to day hustle and bustle easier and more enjoyable!
