Taking the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro Hybrid to the Beach House

We took the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro Hybrid down to our beach house, and this was the kind of test drive that actually made sense for our life.

Not a quick loop around town. Not one cute duffel bag in the back. A real family road trip.

We had luggage, beach bags, snacks, random extras, and the third row in use the entire time.

Basically, the full “we are only going away for a few days but packed like we are moving in for the summer” situation.

As a mom, content creator, and beach house owner, I need a vehicle that can handle more than one version of life.

Some days that means school schedules and errands. Some days that means a full road trip. Some days it means loading up supplies for a project, hauling home decor, or picking up things for the beach house.

That is where the Sequoia really started to make sense to me.

The TRD Pro has a rugged look that feels fun for a beach house trip. It has that adventurous feel, but the inside still feels comfortable and polished.

I did not feel like I was giving up comfort just to have space. On a longer drive, that matters. I want a vehicle that can carry everything, but I also want to actually enjoy being in it.

The Sequoia is a hybrid, which I liked, but what stood out most to me was that it still felt strong and capable on the road.

It had the size and presence of a large SUV without feeling overly clunky. For a family road trip, that balance is important.

The real test was the third row and cargo area. We used the third row the whole time, so I wanted to see how it worked when the vehicle was actually full of people and things.

That is where the sliding third row and flexible cargo setup came in handy. When the third row is up, you have to be more intentional about how you pack.

The Sequoia gave us enough flexibility to make it work without feeling like I was playing luggage Tetris in the driveway.

I also appreciated the technology throughout the trip. The large touchscreen, wireless phone connection, and rearview camera were all things I used and noticed.

The rearview camera was especially helpful because when you are driving a larger SUV, you want that extra confidence backing out, parking, and pulling into places you do not know well.

Once we got to the beach house, the Sequoia still made sense. It was easy to unload, easy to grab bags from the back, and still felt useful once we were there.

I could see it working for beach days, grocery runs, hauling towels and bags, or even picking up something for a DIY project.

That is probably what I liked most. It did not feel like a vehicle that only worked for one moment. It worked for the drive, the arrival, the everyday use, and the “wait, can we fit this too?” part of life.

For us, the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro Hybrid felt like a really good fit for a family road trip to the beach house.

Spacious, comfortable, practical, and still stylish enough that I actually enjoyed photographing it.

Which, let’s be honest, also matters.
