Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro Hybrid

I recently had the chance to test drive the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro Hybrid, and instead of easing into it with a few errands around town, I took it straight into real life: a family road trip down to our beach house.

That is always the real test for me. A vehicle can look great in the driveway, but I want to know how it feels when we are packing luggage, beach bags, snacks, extra shoes, and all the things I somehow convince myself we need for a few days away.

This was not a light little weekend bag situation. This was a beach house trip, which means the car had a job to do before we even pulled out of the driveway.

My first impression of the Sequoia TRD Pro was that it has a really strong presence. It feels bold and rugged, but still elevated.

I liked that it looked adventure-ready without feeling like it only belonged on a trail somewhere. It still made sense in my driveway, at the beach house, and for everyday life.

The inside immediately felt spacious and comfortable.

I had enough room up front, the cabin felt open, and everything felt easy to settle into.

I am someone who notices the little everyday things pretty quickly - where my phone goes, where my drink sits, how easy the screen is to use, and whether the space feels calm or cluttered.

The Sequoia made a good first impression there.

I also loved the technology right away. The large screen was easy to see and use, and having wireless phone connection made the road trip feel smoother.

I do not need technology in a vehicle just for the sake of having more buttons.

I like features that actually make the drive easier, especially when I am trying to navigate, play music, keep my phone charged, and get everyone where we need to go.

The rearview camera was another feature I appreciated immediately.

This is a larger SUV, and I like that, but I also want to feel confident backing up, parking, and pulling into unfamiliar driveways.

Especially when traveling, stopping for gas, or getting to the beach house with everyone ready to get out of the car.

The third row was probably my biggest question going into the trip.

We used it the entire time, so I wanted to see how the Sequoia handled luggage while still keeping that space usable.

I liked that the third row could slide and fold easily, because that flexibility matters when you are packing real bags and not just styling the back for a pretty picture.

Before we even got on the road, I could tell this would be a good real-life test. We had luggage, family, snacks, beach bags, and the kind of packing situation that makes you question your own decisions halfway through.

My first impression? The Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro Hybrid felt spacious, comfortable, strong, and practical without feeling boring.

And for a beach house road trip, that felt like a very good start.
