The Easiest DIY Kitchen Backsplash. Ever.
In my house flip it was cursed with a very dated and ugly kitchen. After installing new countertops, I used a material from a company to install the easiest backsplash ever! I buy old, neglected, ugly houses and flip them all by myself! Come follow along on this crazy, house-flipping life at my blog: The Bachelorette Pad Flip.
Are you looking to update your backsplash? Hoping to DIY it and avoid labor cost? Then this backsplash is for you!
Take a moment to ponder this kitchen- the backsplash doesn't even go the entire way, the harvest gold vent hood, the green laminate, and not to mention the ugly hardware. Whew, this kitchen needed an update!
After carefully measuring the space for my backsplash, I ordered materials from a company that specializes in unique backsplashes! They make designs of all colors and prints- even some that resemble antique ceiling tiles! To find out more about this company and where you can purchase yours, please check out my tutorial on my blog, The Bachelorette Pad Flip (link below!).
The only two tools you'll need are a box cutter and a pencil. Before actually adhering the sheets to your walls, lay them out against the wall. I did this twice (measure twice, cut once!). I used a pencil to mark my cuts.
Once you are absolutely sure of a cut, just score the line with your box cutter. The sheets will literally pop off in a smooth line. The edges will eventually be covered up!
To adhere a sheet, I used Liquid Nails. I made S shapes on the back and then firmly pressed it against the wall. Each piece slides together (much like a puzzle) to create a seamless appearance.
For exposed edges, they make trim pieces for aesthetic purposes. The size of trim pieces vary, so you can get it just right for your project. It was still a little too tall in some parts for my project, so I just used my box cutter to trim off the top portion.
The end result was beautiful! It took me a partial afternoon to begin and complete this project. It was incredibly easy, and I did it all by myself!
After updating the backsplash, the kitchen really began to transition out of the disco era! I have created a complete tutorial (along with DOs and DON'Ts) of this project on my blog.
Enjoyed the project?

I love this idea and thought I may hVe found what I wanted to do my backsplash .
i totally resent the fact that 1st pop up said enter your email to see content…. No I won’t!!! Then tried to go to your blog after I Xed out of that and it said enter your password to continue to see content.
I think you should be reported to home talk because I know they wouldn’t allow this. Originally I clicked the link in your piece. So I’m very careful about what I click on .

If you go to her blog (hit the "GO" button right above this question/comment section) it starts with asking you to sign up to her blog but scroll down past that (in other words, ignore it) and you can view any of her projects. Did you think you HAD to sign up? I've never visited a Hometalkers blog that required you to sign up before you can view their projects. Of course they want you to sign up so it pops up first, but simply ignore it if you don't want to and scroll down to see any of their projects.

It appears to me you need a password. I can’t get into the specific blog without one.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Did you remove the existing backsplash or go over it?
What date did you post on your blog for this re-do? I am having a hard time finding it & I really want to see how it’s done.
Do the ripples in the backsplash sheets make cleaning splashes, etc more difficult?
Thank you.
