Honeycomb IKEA Dresser
This IKEA Tarva dresser was the perfect blank slate for Hometalker SimplyDesigning, who was looking to create an art deco-inspired dresser. She created a honeycomb pattern on the dresser using square dowels as trim on top of the original piece. To complete the transformation, SimplyDesigning painted the dresser in a cream color and then gold before adding some crystal dresser knobs to truly exemplify the art deco look. Get tutorial here
Vintage Dresser Turned New
Vintage furniture can be the best finds. When Hometalker Beth H. Makemeprettyagain.blogspot saw this vintage Stanley faux bamboo dresser, she knew it could be something incredible; now, in all its glory, it most certainly is. The trick to getting the old paint off was using Soy Gel stripper and then sanding the dresser before painting it with Ben Moore Advance in Glossy. This bedroom dresser now looks brand new! Pastel Dresser Knobs for a Nursery
Yellow is a great neutral color for a nursery dresser, especially when you’re unsure of the gender. When this Hometalker was tasked with making one at a client's request, she decided to add her own playful twist to it. Using Textured Paper on a Dresser
Refreshing a dresser can be as easy as putting some paper on it. Don’t believe us? Just take a look at this project by Hometalker DIY Passion, who used textured paper on an old dresser and painted it to create a bedroom dresser she loves. To achieve this look, she glued textured paper onto her dresser and then painted the whole thing a moody purple. The final step in this refresh consisted of adding lions head pulls to finish it off. After painting her newborn’s dresser in Napoleonic Blue Annie Sloan chalk paint, Hometalker At Charlotte's House used polycrylic and a hot iron to seal a piece of fabric to the top of it, not only changing the color of the piece but its look as well. How to Add Feet to a Dresser
All your dresser needs to go from old to new are some new feet. By removing the skirt from an old dresser and replacing it with feet, Hometalker Susan @ Saw Nail and Paint gave her dresser a fresh new look. Decoupage Bedroom Dresser
We’ve already shown you how to add fabric to the top of a dresser thanks to Hometalker At Charlotte’s House, but what about taking it one step further and decorating it through decoupage, as Hometalker Tana, Little Red Bag Productions did after painting her dresser a nice creamy white Using three different wallpapers, Tana created a unique design that draws attention to her lovely new dresser. Another Take on the IKEA Tarva Dresser
As a simple dresser, the Ikea Tarva can be easily modified to suit your design needs, which is why Hometalker Kristin Kennedy chose it. By adding overlays, new dresser knobs, and a stained pine topper, she created a custom addition to her room. The dresser was completed with a coat of paint, a stained pine top from a hardware store, colorful dresser knobs, and overlays from O’verlay, which were spray-painted white before being adhered to the dresser with liquid nails. Gold Dipped Bedroom Dresser
Add a touch of gold to your furniture to make it look sharp and classy with this DIY from Hometalker Sarah Trop. Sarah created a cohesive set of bedroom furniture, including this dresser, by painting them in Benjamin Moore’s Wescott Navy and gave them a gold dipped look through the use of gold spray paint on the base and legs. The Ombre Effect
Ombré is the gradual blending of one color hue to the other and a distinct element of design used by Hometalker Lindsay Eidahl on her dresser. For this type of dresser, it’s important to choose a dresser with many drawers to get the full effect. Lindsay achieved her desired grey ombré effect by painting the trim in Ash from Fusion Mineral Paint and using different variations of Ash and Picket Fence for the drawers. Get tutorial here

This method is inexpensive, simple and is sure to have a lasting effect. Simply cover a knob in mod podge, dip it in glitter and then cover it in mod podge again to seal in the glitter. It’s not only what’s on the outside that matters but the inside as well, as demonstrated by The Weathered Door, who took her new dresser one step further by adding a black and white geometric patterned paper to the inside of each drawer. Transforming a Dresser into a Bench
Before you throw out an old dresser, discover this DIY from Hometalker Brooke @ Start at Home. She reveals how you can remove the top part of a dresser and create a new piece of furniture. For the seat, she simply used the old top of the dresser and, once cut to size, placed it where the second-to-last drawer had previously been.
