Sewing Cabinet From an Old Desk

by

(IC: homeowner)
We bought an old desk at a garage sale for $10.00 and my husband refinished it to make me a much needed sewing cabinet. We mostly used what we had at hand, including the white paint and silver spray for the drawer handles.
The drawers are dovetailed without the metal sliders to help the drawers slide in and out.
The paint remover didn't work so my husband used his electric sander.
I love sewing on my new (to me) cabinet!

This was a very nice project. I didn’t see what they used on the top. I grew up with a sewing machine in a cabinet so found it difficult to sew with a machine on the kitchen table. I’m still using the one I bought on clearance at sears in the 70s where the machine dropped down into the cabinet. Just changed out the machine to update.
