Tools and Materials:
- 3-inch round wood piece
- Plastic pipe or wood (we recommend wood for a rustic touch)
- Miter saw
- 30-inch and 24-inch wood pieces
- 16-inch board for the base
- Drill and drill bit
- Wood screws (2.5 inches)
- Spray paint (white or off-white)
- Hot glue gun
- Oversized Easter egg
- Fairy lights
- Bow and holly for decoration

1. Prepare the Base
Start with a 3-inch round wood piece. If you prefer, you can use plastic pipe, but I opted for wood for that extra touch.
Cut a 30-inch long piece for the main "candle" and a 24-inch piece for the smaller "candle".
2. Drill
Cut a 16-inch piece of wood for the base.
Drill two pilot holes into the base. Use a drill bit that is slightly smaller than your screws.
3. Assemble the Main Structure
Using the same size drill bit as the base, drill down the middle of the two round poles.
Next, we want to connect the poles to the base.
Begin by drilling two wood screws into the base.
The trick is to only screw them in slightly, so just the tip of the screws shows through to the opposite side. This will help you align these screws with the pilot holes drilled into the wooden poles.
Now all you need to do is line these up and drill those wood screws into the poles.
Start with the smaller pole and then move on to the larger one.
You should now have a sturdy structure.
4. Spray Paint for a Festive Look
Take your DIY candlesticks outside and spray paint them with either white or off-white paint.
Using spray paint instead of regular household paint allows some wood grain to show through, giving it that rustic charm.
5. Add the Candle Drips
Apply hot glue on the top, letting it drip down the sides for a realistic melted wax effect.
The hotter the glue, the longer and more realistic the drips will appear.
6. Attach the "Candle" to the Post
We are going to use an oversized plastic Easter egg and fairy lights as the candles' flames.
Secure the plastic eggs to the top of each post using hot glue.
Drill a hole in the back for the lights to pass through.
Attach the switch of the lights to the back of the posts.
Pull the lights through.
Close up the eggs and your DIY Christmas lamp post is almost done.
7. Decorate and Illuminate
Add a festive touch with a bow and holly or any decorations you like. Light it up, and done!

I’ll be saving this to make when I can get plastic eggs. But when gluing the battery pack I would turn it screw side out so I can change batteries when needed.
