Dollar Store Bathroom Shelf & Towel Bar
I have been making so many projects being at home so much. I’m using up all the supplies I have on hand so it’s really made me think what I can do with what I have and today I made this super cute bathroom shelf. I think you’ll love it! Let’s get started...
Hometalk Recommends!
The things you’ll need are:
2 brackets (find in gardening area)
1 plunger
1 piece of wood 18”x10”
Stain (I used Dark Walnut)
Glue E6000 (optional)
Take the planter bracket and bend the front loop up (you may need hubby for this) so the pole will not fall out.
It doesn’t need to touch, just enough so the pole stays in. To make the pole, I used the plunger and cut it at 20” so you don't see the screw marks. I just used a saw but you could leave it as it is if you don’t have one and add twine on each end to cover the marks.
Next. I stained my board.Mine is 18”x10” but yours could really be as long as you need just not longer then the plunger.
I then made a line 1”1/2” in from each side.
I then glued my bracket down. You don't have to do this but I didn't want it to fall off, especially if you have kids around. It will sit right on top without gluing though.
Now add the pole in and it’s ready to hang.
The bracket comes with screws so attach it at the back to the wall.

Add hand towels and decor.

It’s just perfect! For $3 for the brackets and pole you can’t beat it! I’m sure you have stain and glue on hand in your craft stash 😊

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Yes, it's true, the price of wood has gone up so much, that is is clever of you to buy an item like a plunger for a fraction of the cost of the wood. Nice project, personalized and unique, I mean why else do we DIY? Now if we can come up with a project for the rubber part of the plunger, everyone would be happy.
Well, just curious... Why did you choose not to stain the wood pole while you were staining the board?
Is the fence that you hang it on, inside the house?
