I thrifted these Dixie side tables. I found them for $9.99 a piece at my local thrift store.

I am always on the hunt for matching side tables with the perfect height so these were a solid score!

At first glance they reminded me of nightstands you would see in a hotel. Nothing special. Just practical.

I found these beautiful knobs at Homegoods and I knew they would really elevate these side tables to the next level.

I removed the old pulls and used bondo to fill the old hardware holes. Bondo dries rather quickly and then you just sand it down smooth.

Sometimes there’s a divet and you can repeat this step until you basically can’t tell the old pulls ever were There!

After the old hardware holes are filled I eyeball where the new holes should go for the knobs and once I figure out the first drawer I make a pencil mark

on each drawer where the new holes should be drilled to add the new modern knobs.

After that’s done I prime the entire drawer before I add my paint.

Here I am using Wise Owl gray primer.

I used General Finishes coastal blue once I primed the nightstands.

And now we have a completely modern set of nightstands.

Why didn't you have to sand them down? I thought you always had to do that. They are absolutely beautiful though.
