How I Organized Gift Wrap With a Shoe Organizer

My gift wrapping supplies have been a mess for years. Rolls of wrapping paper, ribbons, bows and gift boxes were all thrown into a closet, and every time I needed something, I had to dig through the clutter.

I finally found a clear shoe organizer and knew it was going to be the perfect solution for getting everything neat, visible and easy to grab.

Simple Houseware 24 Pockets - Crystal Clear Over The Door Hanging Shoe Organizer, Gray (64'' x 19'')

1. Hang the shoe organizer

Once the hooks were up, all I had to do was hang the clear shoe organizer from them. Right away, I had a simple storage system with lots of little pockets that I could customize for all my gift-wrapping supplies.

2. Make room for wrapping paper rolls

I wanted a place to keep my loose rolls of wrapping paper, but the shoe organizer didn’t have any slots long enough for them. Luckily, this was an easy fix.

First, I measured how many pouches high my wrapping paper rolls were. Then I carefully ran a straight edge knife along the bottom of the pouch I needed to open.

This created one long slot, so I could slide a roll through the top pouch and let it continue down into the lower one.

3. Create taller slots for longer rolls

For my longer rolls of wrapping paper, I needed to go three pouches high. I cut the bottoms of the two highest pouches, which opened them up just enough for the tall rolls to slip right in and stay in place.

4. Customize pockets for larger gift boxes

The larger gift boxes I had wouldn’t fit into any of the regular pouches either, so I opened up two pouches that were next to each other. This time, I cut the two sides closest to each other, but I didn't cut the bottoms.

That gave me one wider pocket for bulkier items.

5. Fill the remaining pockets

Once the larger sections were ready, I started filling all the other spots with smaller pieces. Little gift boxes slipped right into the pouches, and ribbons and bows fit perfectly in the shoe spots.

Final thoughts

I love how this clear shoe organizer keeps all of my gift supplies neat and tidy. It was the perfect solution to my clutter problem, and I hope it inspires you to organize your gift supplies too.
