1. Measure the Cabinet Opening
Start by measuring the width and height of the cabinet opening where the doors can no longer be used. Accurate measurements ensure that the trim fits properly and the curtains fully cover the space.
2. Paint the Trim and Corbels
Apply two coats of paint + primer to the pine trim piece and the flat decorative corbels. Allow each coat to dry before adding the next to achieve an even, finished look that complements the kitchen style.
3. Sew the Curtain Panels
Sew simple curtain panels sized to fit the cabinet opening. Keep the design straightforward so the curtains slide easily onto the rod and hang neatly in place.
4. Insert the Tension Rod
Slide a tension rod through the sewn curtain panels.
Once threaded, position the rod inside the cabinet opening and press it into place so it fits securely between the sides.
5. Secure the Trim Piece
Place the painted trim piece along the top of the opening and use an air nailer to secure it. This step frames the curtains and gives the installation a clean, finished appearance.
6. Attach the Decorative Corbels
Install the painted decorative corbels beneath the trim piece. Position them evenly to add a subtle decorative detail that enhances the overall look.

Love it. We bought a house and took out the dishwasher. We don’t use them. So, I took a laundry hamper to use as a trash bin, with trash bags inside of course. Then took a curtain rod and two small curtains to cover the hole. I also painted the wall and wood inside. $5 total.
