Mirrored Closet Door Makeover

Are you tired of builder grade closet doors? I was. We have sliding mirrored closet doors in my daughter's room that I wanted to do something with. I didn't want to remove them all together, because we really use those mirrors. So I figured out a way to upgrade them.
After seeing an inspiration picture of very detailed mirrored doors online, I decided that I would give these an upgrade with some trim. My first attempt was buying thin molding from Home Depot and attempting this pattern myself. I soon realized I am not actually a carpenter. To make the pattern I was after, it would take a lot of very precise cuts, most of them angled. Then I remembered a website called MyOverlays.com. I found a similar pattern, and they helped me customize it to fit my existing doors. It took less than 30 minutes to install these!
They are very thin laminate, so it does not interfere with the doors opening and closing at all.
It really gave the whole room an upgrade!

I was so excited when I found your makeover! I'm moving to a home with mirrored closet doors in the bedroom and was in search of a solution.
Your design is such a classy way to change the tacky mirrors. It will be my final touch to my new bedroom. Thank you for doing all the work for me!!!!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
What thickness did you go with How did you attach to the mirror?
I liked the look and went to overlays website but have no idea of what is involved other than a lot of money? There are no 'How to videos". What are you buying vinyl, wood, hard plastic. how do you affix it to your project. How do you paint it etc.
Well how do they attach? You missed a whole, important step!
