How to Convert Bifold Doors Into Swinging Cafe Doors
Nothing screams the 1970’s and 1980’s like good old bifold doors. Am I right? I remember living with bifold doors growing up. I also remember they never stayed on their track! We were lucky enough to inherit a few sets when we moved into our rustic beach cottage. In an effort to transform these old things, I’m going to show you how to convert bifold doors into swinging cafe doors for our master bedroom closet.The best idea I could think of was to replace the bifold door hardware and install cafe door hardware (some call it saloon door or butler door hardware). This puts the doors on a swinging hinge that stays shut when not in use.Before I get ahead of myself with the bifold door makeover and cafe door hardware, let me show you these 1980’s bifold doors.

In other words, if the doorknob on my front door is on the right side and opens inward, should the handle on my not-yet-built wood framed screen door also be on the right, even though it opens outward? Am asking because my porch is laid out strangely; when you ascend the stairs to the front door, you have to face left to face the door. Front door's knob is on the right and opens inward, but if I put a screen door up there whose handle is also on the right, it'll open outward and block the stairs to the porch. Is it weird to have the handles on opposite sides?
Hi guys! We've never done any kind of major renovation before but my husband know how to do basic Reno. I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant and we are converting an office into the new babies room. Only problem is that it has a double door entrance and we want to change it to a single door. There's no need for the double door. My husband has an idea of how to extend the wall out and whatnot. We won't be using the room right away after baby is born except for clothes and such, she will sleep in a bassinet in our room for a couple months, so we'll have plenty of time to change it out. How would you guys go about it and would we need to rip the tile up where the new wall will be to make it more stablized?
I am going to slowly start to upgrade the home I live in. It is a rental and I am allowed to do anything that brings value to the home. I am starting small. The home was built in late 60s early 70’s and we are hoping to be able to buy it. My 1st project is 2 closets. That are the dreaded sliding doors on a track that never stay on track. Would love to reuse door and turn into barn door BUT I do not have any wall on the right. Both doors must be able to move to left. I was thinking of putting doors together. Any ideas. I wish I could cut into wall to expose the 3 ft of closet that’s can’t get to. Help
