How to Clean and Restore Aluminum Window Frames

Amanda Eastman
by Amanda Eastman
I moved into an old mobile home with nasty aluminum window frames and I had no clue what to do about them. I was digging around in my laundry room when I ran across something that I thought might just work! I didn't even have to spray anything. I was actually shocked at how well this worked.
This is the nasty mess I had to deal with. I am getting ready to paint and I really wanted these suckers clean! They were oxidized and moldy from years of just sitting like this.
A few swipes with the magical cleaning tool and the they were already starting to shine. With a little elbow grease they were starting to look fabulous.

I had the same issue when I moved into an older place. What worked for me was a combo of vinegar water and a magic eraser, followed by a polish with a bit of car wax to keep the shine longer. When I was researching home fixes, I stumbled across different homeowner stories, like those at https://leafguard.pissedconsumer.com/review.html and realized we’re all just experimenting with what works best for old fixtures.
