1940's Metal Army Cot Turned Light Fixture
by

(IC: professional)
Revamping my classroom and wanted a unique light fixture! I happened to have a 1940's Metal Army Cot so my honey and I decided to add 25 Edison Bulbs to repurpose this into a fabulous fixture!
The finished product
This was what we started with...a glorious ceiling fan....
Here is our victim. ....the cot and the strand for the bulbs!
Now time to attach the strand to the frame.
Zip ties...need I say more?
All zipped and ready to be hung!
We attached 4 eye bolts into the beam with large carabiner closing clamps. Hung up one side while we hard wired the strand....
Put in some bulbs and made sure they worked before we hung it all the way! Yay...it worked!
Swung the other end up and clamped it into place! So pleased!!
Enjoyed the project?

Danielle Clapp on Jan 14, 2017Inspired? YES! I have my daughter's Crib frame and springs. Have held on to it for 20 yrs now, waiting for something like this. I will research lights ect. for now. I think painting the frame might add a little to hide the wiring. So thanks for the idea. It will make for a wonderful house warming gift to her.
