My Favorite Dark Blue Wall Color, A Year Later
by

Last year I decided to paint the formal dining room. It was beige. The same builder-beige as every other room in the house. I wanted something deep and dramatic and navy blue.
Before & after. Look at the difference it makes!
I tried five different colors from Sherwin Williams before narrowing it down to Naval and Ink Well. (left to right, respectively)
With the amount of light this room gets, Ink Well was the winner. This color is dark and moody, just a shade away from blue/black, exactly what I was looking for. Naval is beautiful too, but it felt too royal blue in this light.
I kept the curtains neutral, with simple linen panels from Ikea.
The accents are simple: medium wood, linen, brass, and white.
I'm still madly in love with this room!
See the full transformation below, with more images before and after.
