How to Make Ice Vinegar Cubes (Easy DIY!)

1. Prepare Your Vinegar Cubes

Grab your ice cube trays (preferably ones you don't use for drinks!) and carefully fill each section with white vinegar.

Freeze your vinegar into cubes for easy, mess-free weed control!

3. Spot the Problem Weed

Locate your troublemakers—whether it's stubborn poison ivy, invasive thistles, or random weeds popping through mulch or cracks in your patio.

4. Place the Ice Vinegar Cube

Simply place an ice vinegar cube directly on top of the weed, ensuring it touches the leaves and stem. As the cube melts, the vinegar will penetrate deeply, killing the weed right at its root.

5. Wait and Monitor Results

Give it 24-48 hours, and you'll notice the weeds wilting and turning brown. Repeat if necessary for tougher weeds. It’s oddly satisfying to see results quickly.

Watch your weeds wither away within a day or two!

Common Questions & Pro Tips

Will vinegar harm other plants?

  • Yes, vinegar doesn’t discriminate! Always spot-treat weeds carefully to avoid contact with your beloved garden plants.

Can I use these cubes for indoor plant weeds?

  • Stick to outdoor use—vinegar's strong scent isn't ideal indoors, and you wouldn’t want accidental drips on delicate houseplants.

Will this permanently kill weeds?

  • It kills existing weeds effectively but might require repeated application for particularly tough plants like poison ivy or persistent weeds.

Been using it a lot with and without salt. Sort of works but not that great. After rain they all come right back as well. I don’t use poison so I just keep using this. 🤷🏼‍♀️

No question. I have used vinegar, salt and dawn mixed together. Put in a spray bottle. My son was amazed how fast it worked.
