I like this idea a lot! Years ago I found out that my home builder had them mix stucco in the front yard of every 10th house. Anything I planted died in three years when the roots hit the leftover stucco. So after 3 attempts in 10 years to have ground cover, I “planted” 4 tons of river rocks in assorted colors and haven’t lost a single rock. I travel a lot and for every city I go to, I find a good sized rock and paint the underside a gold metallic color and on the top, I paint the name of the city. I like your idea of “flowers” and will incorporate my travels in the concrete stepping stones. Thanks for the idea!

Some friends of mine make these but they used broken ceramic dishes, etc. and they look really cool because it’s like broken glass in the concrete

Have a question about this project?
Where do you buy your River rock I can’t find it
Any good fall projects?
Hi, nice project but I'm wondering if there is a reason you used the black river rock, which most expensive river rock?
A side comment to those considering this is that regular stones can be used, even from the beach etc. Also, as I am thinking about this, I think the concrete needs to be roughed to reduce possible slipping on them.
