I have done these so often! However I don't grout..I just glue the marbles on as is. The white globe shows enough that it looks like grout. I also like to put lights inside the globe ..they light up nicely.

@mary…I will try again. I have done many of these..just put your led lights up into the bottom hole..leave solar catch thing outside…
I do not grout..I think the white of the globe is pretty and doesn’t get dirty or cracked like grout does. I put my marbles real close together too. I usually start at the bottom do a few rows..then when they are dry..turn globe over..start again ..the dry bottom ones stop the ascending marbles from slipping. Again if I can figure how to post a picture.. tada this time it worked. Have fun. I did one for my neighbor across the fence..yellow red and orange..it is so pretty in her bird bath..no lights..not needed!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Wouldn't the stones move around when the hot glue softened in the heat of the sun?
do the stones fall off once the grout is on? Also, does the glue you are using dry quickly?
Why not spray paint the bottom can lids before gluing on? I have used the same method with cement with great results as well. The glass / rock stick better with the cement method. The glue melts in hot sun leaving the glass globe vulnerable to breaking & animals or myself getting cut when gardening. Love the concept! Thank you.
