How to Make a DIY Organizer With Stackable Drawers and Cutting Boards
You know that one drawer... the “everything” drawer? Mine had hair ties, batteries, six pens (none that worked), and about 47 bread ties. Total chaos.
So when I stumbled across a set of stackable organizing drawers and bamboo cutting boards, the lightbulb clicked on—this was going to be my drawer makeover moment.
I made one for the kitchen, then immediately made another for my upstairs bathroom. Not only is it a space-saver, but it also looks like a mini boutique display.
Let me show you how to do it—this DIY drawer organizer comes together in minutes and can be used in any room of your home.
Tools & Materials:
- 4 clear stackable organizing drawers
- 2 bamboo cutting boards
- Hot glue gun + plenty of glue sticks
- Rubbing alcohol & cloth (for cleaning surfaces before gluing)
- Optional: felt pads for the base to protect counters

1. Prep the Drawers
Grab those drawers, pull off any labels, and give them a wipe with rubbing alcohol.
Give the cutting boards a good wipe too; you need a nice, clean surface.
Plug that glue gun up, it's about to get a workout!
Now that everything is prepped, it's time to start.
2. Stack and Glue the Organizers
Start the project by placing four small dots of hot glue, one in each corner, on the top of your first drawer.
Press a second drawer on top and hold it in place for a few seconds until it sets.
Repeat this step so you end up with two stacks of two.
2. Connect the Two Stacks Side-by-Side
Flip one of your stacked pairs on its side so you’re gluing side-to-side now.
Run a line of hot glue down one side and attach it to the other stack so you’ve got four drawers in a grid.
Make sure all edges are flush and aligned; this gives it that sleek, high-end look.
3. Create the Base with a Bamboo Cutting Board
Now, take one of your bamboo cutting boards. Add a generous layer of glue across the top, then press your drawer unit down onto it.
Center it so it looks polished from all angles.
This will serve as your base and gives the drawers a solid foundation.
4. Finish with a Top Board for a Clean Look
To give your organizer a finished look, glue the second bamboo cutting board to the top.
This not only makes the whole piece look more intentional but gives you bonus surface space—hello, candle or mini plant!
Why This Organizer Works So Well
- Stackable organizing drawers are clear, so you can always see what’s inside.
- The bamboo cutting boards elevate the whole look—literally and aesthetically.
- The hot glue holds surprisingly strong, but you can also use E6000 if you want a more permanent bond.
- It’s small-space friendly. This fits on counters, shelves, even under sinks.
Where to Use It
- Kitchen: Batteries, pens, notepads, measuring spoons
- Bathroom: Makeup, toiletries, hair ties, cotton rounds
- Office: Paperclips, sticky notes, chargers
- Bedroom: Jewelry, skincare, perfume samples
I use mine in the bathroom for toiletries and accessories—but the little candle on top? That’s the cherry on top.
