How to Build a Reclaimed Wood Bench/Coffee Table
I love working with relaimed wood. I love taking something that someone else would throw out or burn and making something pretty and useful with it. This bench/coffee table is a simple build and a prefect example of what you can do with salvaged wood.
Use bright, fun colors to make this piece pop!
I used 4 spindles for legs. You also could use 4 2x2's. Using some 1x3" reclaimed barnwood, I cut the short sides 11" long and attached them to the legs.
The long sides are 48" long.
I cut some pallet wood (heavy, dense pallet wood) into 14" pieces. I attached these to a center board that was 6 1/2" wide.
The center board needs to fit between the legs.
Attach the top by screwing 2 screws through the end into the center board.
I added 2 screws down through the inside long side pieces.
Next I painted it--here is a link to my paint technique: http://bec4-beyondthepicketfence.blogspot.com/2014/04/paint-tutorial-2.html
I really like the size of this piece--long and narrow, perfect for in front of a couch or as a bench.
These beachy colors make me happy!
