Harry Potter Inspired Desk Makeover

My daughter loves everything Harry Potter and asked for a desk in wizard style for her room.

I prepped this little desk by cleaning and filling any imperfections with putty. Then did a good sanding before a good coat of Cece Caldwell Paints in Beckley Coal.

I used an old sanding pad once the paint was dry to create a smooth surface to start drawing out the designs.

Using a white colored pencil, I drew out the design on the top of the desk and the sides of each drawer.

The white colored pencil made my sketch much easier to see over the black paint.

I then painted each drawer by hand using different colors of Unicorn SPiT colored gel stains.

After each drawer was dry I sealed them with a coat of polyurethane.

The top of the desk I hand painted with one of the crests from the books.

I wanted the crest and raven to be bold and bright, so using UnicornSpit worked perfectly.

I added gold metallic accents.

Once the desk was dry, I sealed the entire thing with a few coats of polyurethane.

Laurie Crews Brennan handmade these special knobs for me.

My daughter absolutely loves it.
