Chic Secretary Desk Makeover

I absolutely love secretary desks, they're my weakness when it comes to picking furniture! I found this very well loved piece last week, and new it was just calling out for a chic new look.. I've seen this style of desks around a lot; I've probably refinished 6 or 7 of them myself this past year. And every time I do one I think to myself, "why am I doing another secretary desk? It takes forever to paint all of those cubbies on the top, it's such a hassle, etc"; but when I see the end product, I'm in love all over again!
Here's my "before"....it looks in much better condition in the picture than it actually was...tons of scratches all over the top and drawers, and several broken slivers of wood around the drawer fronts that needed some repair work. Even though she's beautiful in her original state, with all of those flaws, I really felt like painting it was the best option!
Fortunately on this piece, the inside part was removable, which made it much easier (although not really any less time consuming) to paint!
Love the outside....
but the best part is the inside, I never want to close it :-)
