How to Frame a Rug in 3 Easy Steps to Create DIY Wall Art
When the holidays were over and I took down all my decorations, I realized I needed some wall art! I wanted to use textured textiles as artwork, but they were very expensive. I decided to do it inexpensively by learning how to frame a rug.
You can go to T.J. Maxx or thrift a cheap textile like I did. I used frames that I already had, rubber cement, and just glued everything to the backing. And if this framed rug wall art isn't an easy enough DIY to start your year out, I don't know what else is.
Best rubber cement glue!
Tools and materials

How to frame a rug
Step 1: Use existing frames
I already had two large existing frames. I removed the art that was in them.
Step 2: Cut the rug to fit
I cut this cheap rug into two pieces of the same size. Don’t be afraid to cut off parts of it that you don’t want in the frame.
Step 3: Glue them down
I rubber-cemented the two pieces of rugs onto the backings of the frames.
How to frame a rug
Hanging a rug as wall art is easy, as long as you find an inexpensive one that looks great and isn’t too heavy. So rather than just put your frames or an old rug that’s still in good shape in a closet out of the way, make better use of them by creating rug art!
