Wicker baskets can be so pricey, so I decided to make my own rope baskets. They have the same look, and are way cheaper! This project is SO easy to do and is so useful. You can use it in your Easter decor, or as household storage. Here we go!
What you'll need:
- plastic laundry basket
- rope 98ft jute 3 ply Hobby Lobby
- 1 yard of fabric- I used white, but you can use whatever you want
- scissors
- glue gun
Step 1- Begin by cutting off the rim of the laundry basket.
Step 2- Next wrap the fabric around the whole basket.
Step 3- Glue it to the bottom of the basket.
Step 4- Then begin wrapping the rope around the basket and gluing it dwn with the hot glue.
Repeat over and over to you reach the top of the basket.
Srep 5- Next, stick all extra fabric into the basket, and glue it to the bottom.
It should look like this.
That's it! It looks great! You can use this basket for literally anything! You can also make any size basket, the options are endless. Thanks for stopping by. Check out more of my projects over on Gilbert Marketplace.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Hi! I love your craft ideas! Question. I don't quite understand how/in what direction you wrap the fabric around the basket so that there's all of that fabric to put down into the inside? Thanks! 😊 Karen G.
How do you clean the fabric?
What diameter rope do you use for the project.
