DIY Gorgeous, Painted Accent Mirrors

Tools and materials:
- Mirrors
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Alcohol ink
- Dropper
- Kamar varnish
- UV seal
Clean the mirrors
To start off this DIY, make sure that you clean the mirrors. I like to use isopropyl alcohol to wipe them down, removing any dirt, dust, or marks. When working with alcohol it’s always a good idea to pop on a safety mask, especially if you’re working indoors.
Add alcohol ink
It’s always nice to have a range of colors to work with. Use the alcohol inks and spread them onto the mirror. I decided to create a dark to bright pattern adding drops of gold along the way. You can get totally creative with your colors and design!
Drop on alcohol
To create the desired effect, use a dropper to spread some isopropyl alcohol on your inked area. The dropper definitely helps control the amount of alcohol being used and can help spread the ink better.
Spread around
Next, pick up the mirror and gently move it to spread the ink around a little. I am so obsessed with the beautiful, ethereal effect the alcohol creates. If you wanted to, you can use a hairdryer to move the ink around but I love the soft look moving the alcohol around creates.
For the second mirror, I chose to use the blue ink and run it into the red but as I said before, feel free to get creative with your color choices! Repeat the same steps as before to create another amazing mirror.
Seal the paint
If you want to have your mirrors looking this incredible permanently, spray them with Kamar varnish and then seal them with a UV product so that the alcohol ink doesn’t fade. If not, to get the mirrors back to normal all you have to do is wipe them down with some more isopropyl alcohol.
