DIY Wood Slice Snowman
Tree stump fun! Trim your tree and make a snowman for your porch or fireplace. This project is quick, easy, and cheap, all wins in my book!
Tools and Materials
- 4 wood slices
- Wood glue
- Large clamps
- Scarf
- Glue gun
- 6 3" long screws
- Scissors
- Wire cutter
- Floral
- Snowman face template (I've attached a stencil below)
- Black Sharpie
- Orange Sharpie
Get your two wood slices for the body, making sure they stack nicely and stand on its own.
Apply wood-glue along the bottom and top of the wood slice and secure together with the clamp.
Once the body of the snowman is dry use 2- 3” inch screws angled from the top slice to the bottom slice to ensure they stay together (Don’t worry your scarf will cover the screws)
Get your two wood slices for the hat and use 2- 3” inch screws from the underneath upwards (you could use wood glue but it is not necessary)
Once the body is assembled use your snowman face stencil (attached) and either sharpies or paint to fill in (I used sharpies to avoid the drying time with paint) Also it is a good idea to place the hat on top to make sure you like the way it sits and looks with the face. Have fun with it!
You can use this as a template or free hand your own snowman face. This where you can really be creative
Once you finish your snowman face you will attach the hat by using 2- 3” inch screws on the edge of the top hat to screw down into the body securing the two. I went on the side of the hat so you don’t see the screw but if screwed in all the way they are not very noticeable, you could also use decorations around the hat to hide.
Get your scarf, and with your scissors cut the scarf to about 5” inches wide and your desired length. Once your scarf is at its desired length use the hot glue to attach the scarf to the neck of the snowman. (if you want you can simply knot it so it can be changed)
Get your floral pick and use the wire cutters to cut down the pick small enough to place on the hat of your snowman. Once you have your pick cut to the desired length use the hot glue to attach the pick to the snowman hat and enjoy your snowman!
The possibilities are endless when it comes to holiday decor. Let me know what you decorate with in the comments!
