When I spotted these adorable egg picks at Dollar Tree, I knew I had to create something special with them. That’s how this 4 Foot Easter Egg Topiary idea came to life!
It’s the perfect way to add a festive touch to your Easter decor, and the best part? It’s super easy and budget-friendly to make. Follow these simple steps to create your own!
Tools and Materials:
- Easter egg picks
- 2x2 wood board
- Expanding foam
- Plant pot
- Paper grass
- Scissors
- Drill
- Finial
- White chalk paint
- Wooden skewers
- Mini Easter eggs
- Burlap ribbon
1. Secure the Wooden Pole in the Pot
Start by placing the 2x2 wood board in the center of your plant pot.
Spray expanding foam around the base to keep the pole sturdy and in place.
More Holiday Tips
The foam will fill to the top.
2. Add Paper Grass for a Decorative Base
Before the foam fully dries, press paper grass into the foam to cover the surface.
This will give your topiary a finished look.
Once set, trim the excess grass for a neat appearance and let it dry.
3. Ensure the Pole is Straight and Level
As the foam dries, brace the pole to keep it straight and level.
This step is crucial to making sure your Egg topiary stands tall and looks perfect.
4. Attach the Finial for a Finished Look
Once the foam has completely dried, drill a pilot hole at the top of the pole.
Then, screw in a wooden finial to give the topiary a polished, decorative finish.
5. Paint the Pole and Finial
Now it’s time to paint!
Apply a coat of white chalk paint to the pole and finial for a clean, bright look.
Let it dry completely before moving to the next step
6. Remove the Stakes from the Egg Picks
Take each egg pick and snap off the stakes by applying light pressure.
This will allow them to sit flat against the topiary pole.
7. Wrap the Eggs with Burlap Ribbon
Wrap burlap ribbon around the bottom of each egg to create a decorative “wrapper” effect.
This adds texture and a farmhouse-style touch to the design.
8. Position and Attach the Eggs
Arrange the foam eggs along the pole in a pattern you like.
Once you’re happy with the placement, nail them securely into the pole.
9. Add Extra Decorative Eggs
For extra charm, take wooden skewers and attach them to smaller foam eggs.
Stick them into the paper grass around the base of the topiary. This will create a layered, festive display.

Love your egg topiary. This is a nice idea for the front porch to welcome visitors or inside the home on each side of a fire place. They are so colorful.
