Dollar Store Bowl Hack
Grab a couple of bowls the next time you are at the store to make this gorgeous candle for your outdoor space.

I started this project off with two slightly different bowls.
I got both of them from Dollar Tree.
Once I had my bowls chosen, I wanted to glue them together base to base.
I used two different types of glue to hold them together and started with E6000.
Then, I added hot glue. I used gorilla glue sticks because they just tend to hold things pretty well. The hot glue will also act a little faster than the E6000.
After allowing the glue to dry, it was time to paint them. I started by pouring some white paint into a tray.
I added a little bit of honeycomb color as well to warm up the white.
Finally, I added a little bit of baking soda. I don't really have an exact ratio of baking soda, I just put it in a little bit at a time so that I can add some texture to the paint.
Once the paint was mixed, I applied it to the bowl in a horizontal fashion because I wanted it to look like pottery. I covered both the inside and outside of both bowls.
After allowing the paint to dry, I wanted to add some sandstone texture so used textured spray paint.
I added a light coat all over the bowls.
To turn the faux stone bowls into a candle, I grabbed four candles from the dollar store.
I removed the wicks from the ones I purchase and placed them in the bowl. I wrapped them around skewers to hold them in place.
Then I started to melt down the candles. Be very careful with the hot wax. I used a pair of tongs to hold the hold candles.
I added a few drops of lavender oil to each one before pouring it into the bowl.
With the scent added, I slowly started pouring the wax from the first candle into the bowl.
Then I did the same thing with the other two that I have. I have a backup one just in case but I ended up only using a little bit of it.
Once I had the bowl filled with the wax, I let it sit to harden.
Finally, I trimmed the wicks down with a pair of scissors.
Can I just say how good you smell with the scents that I added? Here is my candle all lit up. It looks beautiful out on my screened-in porch. I love how this turned out and I love the smell of the lavender. It really does add a sense of ambiance to my outdoor living space.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
How did she melt the candle?
I would have loved to know how you melted the candles and removed the wicks? That the biggest reason for me to watch the video and it wasn’t there 😔
Is the combination of fire and spray paint a problem as the candle burns down or towards the sides?
