Ever wondered how to clean shower doors effectively and bid farewell to those pesky hard water stains? Well, Andrea Jean Cleaning has a brilliant idea that involves a kitchen staple – vinegar – and a humble kitchen companion – plastic wrap.

1. Prep the Doors:
Start by giving your glass shower doors a quick rinse. This helps remove any loose debris and prepares the surface for the cleaning method.
2. Vinegar Application
Grab a bottle of vinegar – your new best friend in the world of cleaning. Generously spray the shower doors with vinegar making sure to cover the entire surface.
This magical elixir works wonders in breaking down hard water stains.
3. Plastic Wrap Magic
Now, here's the trick that makes all the difference. Cover your vinegar-soaked doors with a layer of plastic wrap. This creates a seal, allowing the vinegar to work its charm without evaporating too quickly.
Let the vinegar and plastic wrap duo work their magic for at least half an hour. This gives them enough time to dissolve those stubborn hard water stains.
4. Unveil the Doors
Once the clock has ticked away, unveil your shower doors from their plastic wrap cocoon. You'll already notice a significant reduction in those stubborn stains.
6. Sponge and Soap Action
Armed with a sponge and a bit of dish soap, start scrubbing down your shower doors.
For deeply rooted stains, you might need to repeat the process. However, don't worry; a little effort goes a long way.
Maintenance Tips
To keep your glass shower doors in tip-top condition, consider using this method on a monthly basis. To prevent hard water buildup, a quick wipe-down with a squeegee after each shower helps tremendously.

Try adding some fabric softener to your vinegar, it increases the effectiveness dramatically. The amount you need to add depends on the hardness of the water in your area. Also, recently heard Rinse Aid for the dishwasher is another effective product to add.

Yes, adding a miniscule amount of a surfactant like Rinse Aid to lower the surface tension of aqueous solutions will allow them to wet out any surface quickly and get to the chemical work needing done almost instantly, so that you shouldn't need plastic wrap. If you can get a hold of some Triton X-100 (from an industrial chemist hoarder nerd like me), that is my favorite. Unlike a lot of surfactants, it holds up well in acidic solutions. Of course, you can skip the vinegar and just use Lime Away, CLR, or Simple Green, etc. They are already formulated for efficient soap scum removal.

Love the idea but absolutely hate the waste of plastic wrap. It’s not environmentally sustainable and it requires too much.
Found another way to get the same results by buying a spray bottle and combining the Vinegar with Dawn Detergent. Don’t rinse before just spray the equal parts of vinegar and detergent directly onto the dry surfaces and allow to sit for about 1/2 hour or an hour if it is really nasty. This allows the products to cling onto the shower surface and the shower glass surfaces too. It stays most definitely longer and Dawn cuts through soap scum buildup.
Follow the same clean up instructions and added a gentle scrubbing type two sided sponge for the harder build up. Rinse down and use a squiggle then dry with a towel made of fine smooth cotton or linen rubbing in circles and it’s sparkling. So keep it shiny for more time you can wipe it with dryer sheets. I buy them at a dollar store as it doesn’t matter if it’s high end. They worked equally as well. The natural repellent in dryer sheets works great for the fixtures as well keeping them from getting as surfaces looking great for a few days longer.
