Trash Can Flower Pot Planters
Need a large planter, but don't want to spend a fortune? I hear ya! Large flower pots and planters can be costly, but trash cans aren't. Here's how to turn a cheap trash can into a gorgeous large flower pot or patio planter.
This is a great project if you need a lot of flower pots and planters, as I did on my patio.
Find inexpensive trash cans that suit your style. And you want them to be large enough to hold whatever plant or flowers you are thinking about.
I found the FNISS trash cans at IKEA for .79 cents each. The Dollar Tree also has a lot of varieties of decorative and colorful trash cans.
Drill holes in the bottom of the trash can for drainage. We used a normal screwdriver head on an electric screwdriver to make small holes.
Pot up your plant or flowers as normal with potting soil, fertilizer, etc.
If you are going to use these planters indoors, such as to bring plants in your bedroom to clean the air or to add flowers to your home to make you happy, be sure to put a drainage drip pan underneath the pots to avoid water on your floors.

Omg! I'm sooo happy I saw this DIY because tomorrow my sister and I were going to go searching for some red flower pots and I need like 5, but I was thinking I can't really afford to buy that many because larger flower pot are expensive. I'm definitely doing this DIY and if I have to then I'll paint the trash cans the color I need. My sister is going to also love this idea! I can't wait to tell her tomorrow. Yea!
