Another Bench Project From an Old Bed

My take on a popular project...
Bought this old twin bed set at a second hand store for Five bucks. I didn't need the rails for this project.
Cut the footboard in half right down the middle.
Attach the cut sides to the headboard, I had some old brackets laying around the garage that I used.
This is probably optional, but I added a board in the front for extra strength. It needed some sanding to try to hide the scratches.
We had some old deck boards lying around that we repurposed for the seat.
Found an old mattress pad we used to take camping. Cut to fit for cushion.
Painted white....just because I had a gallon of white paint. I could see it with some other glorious color though.....
The white seemed too stark, so I just used sandpaper to distress it a bit.
Had to buy fabric for the cushion, but if I'd had a pretty sheet or even an old curtain I liked, I could have used it to save money. New things are nice, too!
Enjoyed the project?

So cute and simple {without all the measure here, cut there, so many details} This is the way I like Hometalk projects. Great job!!! 🤩🤩

Sure, have the foot board to my bed in the shed and will improvise the rest.

Did you cover up the brackets did you just paint over them
Love it, working with a queen size headboard and an old cedar chest to make a bench, shoe container in my mudroom. Now I know how to make the sides. Want to trim with fake cowhide for a western look. Any ideas on how to tack the material?
