Use pull-out storage units: Hide your utensils and containers with a unit you can pull out when needed. This an especially worthwhile DIY task in small kitchens.
Add a new kitchen island: Fit a kitchen island to immediately increase your storage space and work surface. These can be created in a huge variety of styles and sizes.
Find space for a lazy Susan: Use a lazy Susan to always have access to everything that is neatly stored away. Fit this revolving unit to use up awkward storage spaces.
Store baskets under the sink: Don’t let the space under your sink go to waste. Put some baskets here and you can use it for conveniently storing a variety of items.
Use uniform storage containers: Get a uniform selection of storage containers for a better look and smarter use of space. Don’t clutter the kitchen with assorted containers.

I wanted to add dividers to my kitchen drawers, to help control the chaos! And also to help curb the colourful language that mealtime can sometimes elicit from me. I wouldn’t say I’m savvy in the kitchen, but I know enough that when things start to cook (burn), finding the utensil I need is time sensitive!I saw a few tutorials online, where they built inserts using ¾” or 1” wood, and simply dropped them into the drawer. And while they seemed easy enough to duplicate and looked really great, I couldn’t help but think that all that thick wood was using up a lot of valuable space in the drawers. So I decided to try something a little different.My first step was to lay all the drawer contents out on the countertop, into groups. Once I had a clear view of what I had, I purged many items. Seriously, four soup ladles, who was I trying to kid?

Super Easy DIY Ladder Pot Rack for Under $40

My husband thought I was a little bit crazy when I suggested suspending a ladder in the kitchen and hanging pots and pans off of it... ladder pot racks just weren't something he had ever even heard of, let alone seen.But he admitted that I have a pretty good track record when it comes to home décor, so he was willing to hear me out and see what he could do to help.We happened to have a ladder already on hand from when he made blanket ladders last fall, so we held it up in the kitchen a bunch of different ways until he could see what I was going for. It was obvious that it would work and look amazing, but first we would need to cut it down a little to make it a) look more like a pot rack and less like a ladder and b) fit above the island in the middle of the kitchen.For our pot rack, I simply cut 2 feet off the blanket ladder to make it 4 feet; but I'll cover a do-it-from-scratch routine here in case you missed the how to make a blanket ladder post. How To Create A Gorgeous Looking Totally Organized Upright Freezer

Quite a few years ago I invested in an upright freezer. I much prefer it to a chest freezer because it takes up less room in the mudroom where it is located. I love just having to open the door as if I were opening a closet door to add, return or remove whatever frozen food I am looking for. But there are some issues with an upright freezer just as there are with a chest freezer. The upright freezer has five shelves inside. I tried to designate each shelf for a different category of food. But have you noticed that frozen food is not packaged the same so it can't be neatly stacked on the shelf in an organized system? Are you like me and have lost track of what is exactly in the freezer and how long it has been there? Have you also noticed that frozen food is actually quite unattractive and unappealing? Looking inside a freezer is a very drab experience. I changed all that with some inexpensive ideas!

On October 31, 2013, we moved into this home. Shafts of autumn sun pierced through the windows that day, illuminating the kitchen. Granite counters gleamed in the soft golden light. The kitchen was empty but full of promise. The polished rock whispered of wine glasses and fruit bowls, of orchids and hors d'oeuvres. Fast forward two years and listen. You'll hear the granite whisper no more. Instead you'll hear it bitch about spilled milk and dried paint and bread crumbs in the corners so old, they've petrified. You'll hear it groan from the burden it bears, as appliances piled up and cluttered its mottled slab. You'll hear the granite whine about its dull visage as it reminisces about "The Shiny Years." My granite may no longer be the belle of the ball, but she shouldn't have to suffer the indignities I've put her through these past few years. I decided to restore her to her former glory. There was only one problem: where would I put all the appliances in order to reveal her bare and simple self? I couldn't put them in the cabinets - they were all full of crap. Full of crap....hmmmm. I squatted down, knees popping in protest. I opened the cabinet doors and looked into their depths. My suspicions were confirmed. They were full of crap! I took a quick inventory of the biggest double cabinet and realized that I'd only been using maybe 3% of its space - just a little corner in the front where I kept my barbecue thermometer and muslin bags for straining yogurt. The rest of the space was filed with piles and piles of crap that I hadn't touched in two years. I even found two packages of ice cream cones that I'm pretty sure I bought before we moved in. Live in an apartment where space is limited. Have a lot of bottles of vitamins and supplements, and they are all over the counter, overflowing from a container that used to be big enough. Need some ideas of how I might store them. Right now they are in the kitchen by my coffee pot and can opener. There is hardly any room left on that counter. There is a foot of wall space there. Can you hang things on a hollow door?

We just moved into a new downsize home! So exciting except, I would like to have a little more storage space in my pantry. My first thought was to hang wire racking shelves on the panty doors. Everyone has told me that you can not nail or screw anything into a hollow door. They say it won't stay hold and it will just mess the door up?? Does anybody have an answer to this question or advice? You can see from the picture the door is like a raised panel door constuction grade. The pantry is the typical shall I wire shelf pantry.
