1. Create a DIY Shoe Rack
Got a jumble of shoes on the floor? Use two tension rods to create a shoe rack in your closet!
Measure the width of the closet where you want to install your new shoe rack.
Twist the end of the tension rod to release the spring, then continue twisting until it’s the right width.
Install the first tension rod horizontally at the back of the closet.
Place a second tension rod about a half-inch lower than the first one.
This creates a slight forward angle, making it easier to see and grab your shoes without them slipping off.
If you have more height, add a second, or even a third tension rod shelf.
Now, just place your shoes on the rods and enjoy the extra floor space!
This setup also works great for boots.
Install the tension rods vertically.
Position one tension rod near the back of the shelf and place a second rod closer to the front.
Repeat this process across the shelf.
Now your boots remain upright and organized.
2. Maximize Under-Sink Storage
If your kitchen sink area is crowded with cleaning supplies, it’s time to use this brilliant tension rod hack!
Clear out the space under your kitchen sink.
Take a large tension rod and install it horizontally in front of any pipes.
Leave enough room above the rod so you can easily add and remove spray bottles.
Hang your cleaning spray bottles from the rod.
This simple trick opens up space below the rod for other cleaning supplies like sponges or cloths.
3. Organize Your Baking Sheets
Struggling with cluttered baking sheets and pans? You can use tension rods to solve that, too!
Install two tension rods vertically inside a cupboard, making sure they're back-to-back.
Slot your baking sheets or muffin pans between the rods.
This method creates a simple, easy-access system for storing pans without them tipping over or stacking messily.
