How to Make Your Curtains Fit

Measure twice, cut once: Measure your curtain drop at least twice. Make sure the length reaches the necessary level before fixing your rail and hanging the curtains.
Curtains and walls should match: Curtain colors should complement your walls. First, match the tone. Second, aim to use a different shade than the main wall color.
Customize your curtains with ease: Secure your curtains to a board. Use a roller and a stencil to apply a 2:1 mix of paint and fabric medium to create an impressive custom look.
Ditch stitches with no-sew curtains: For a custom look, use Heat N Bond adhesive hemming tape to combine fabric scarves. Iron flat and use as many scarves as needed for your drop.
Swap blinds for curtains: Replace blinds with curtains using drapery hooks. Removing the blinds, glue hooks to the top of your curtains and hang from the existing clips.

I had a gotten quite a few questions on my last tutorial for my chandelier about how I opened the shutters with the chandelier hanging in the way. Well here is the answer to that question. I knew if that project came to life the way I had it envisioned in my head, that I would be changing out that window treatment anyhow. I just wanted to see how that project played out before I committed the time to changing the whole window, because, lets be real, not every DIY attempted turns out how it was initially envisioned! But since this one did, I got to work on the new window treatments for my bathroom to allow more natural filtered light into the room so my little green friends can continue to thrive. I got this idea from Pinterest, but needed to make it a little more budget friendly! I’ll show you how I made these tab top curtain panels as well as how to create the wall treatment to hang it on!

SO! Last year I did a similar style of curtains in my master bathroom, I converted store bought pocket rod curtain panels into tab top with some ribbon and my sewing machine! You guys loved that look, so here we are again, same concept, but a slightly different more rustic style! And these are virtually no sew-you will still need a large sewing needle BUT its really not SEWING exactly! Stick with me and I will explain the whole process!

PVC Pipe Curtain Rods

Lets talk about curtain rods! They can be costly, especially when you have a large space that requires long lengths for rods. I've got a great solution for an inexpensive DIY curtain rod, that certainly wont break the bank!This is a very basic DIY and one that will make a huge impact in your home and not your bank account! Here are the items that you'll need in order to create these: PVC Conduit L Bracket Nuts 1/2" Machine Screws Conduit Strap Corner Piece if you need to go around a corner! Matte Black Spray PaintThat is all you need to create these simple curtain rods! My room is 30 feet long and 12' deep, so I needed quite a few of the PVC conduit tubes. They come in 10 foot lengths, so measure what you need and then order the lengths you need.Since these are made out of PVC they are very easy to cut down to size, you can use a hand saw or a chop saw.Each end of the conduit tubes looks like the below, and that is so that each piece fits perfectly with the next!

Lately I've been trying to evaluate my decor, get rid of things that aren't really my style anymore, and come up with new things to make. One of those things that I decided to make was a curtain over my side entry door (we use this as our main door). Ever since moving in to our house almost 4 years ago, there has been a nasty blind hanging from/taped on the door window. (Yes, the sides of the blinds were legit taped down with masking tape...I'm assuming the person living here before didn't want them banging against the door every time he opened it.). I'm constantly on the go and stay busy, so I never really stopped to let it bother me too much until this past week. I finally said to myself, "okay those disgusting blinds HAVE to go!" When I was down in South Carolina visiting my mom a few years ago, we went to this AAAAAMAZING antique mall where several vendors have their antiques, repurposed items and other creations set up, and I found 2 burlap sacks. Being the crafting hoarder that I am, I purchased them ($30 for both) with the intention of eventually making stool/ottoman cushions out of them. That never happened -- so this week when I was looking at my gross blinds, I decided to finally use one of my burlap sacks. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy this facelift was for my door window!

I'm trying to hang a curtain rod over a sliding glass door, but keep hitting something that I can't drill through.

The house is built of cement blocks, but there is drywall on the walls. I had another house that was the same type, but never had a problem with hanging curtain rods. The anchors can't get in far enough to hold the rod in with whatever is stopping it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
