Daily Shower Cleaner Spray: The Quick & Easy No-Rinse DIY Solution
Let me tell you something: I used to dread cleaning the bathroom. Seriously, who has the time to scrub tiles every week? Not me!
But then I discovered the magic of a daily shower cleaner. Just a few spritzes after your shower and voilà —no more soap scum or water spots.
After a lot of experimenting (and a few bubbly messes!), I’ve finally perfected a homemade shower spray that works wonders—plus, it’s super easy to make!
And the best part? This DIY recipe is so simple, you can whip it up in minutes using ingredients you probably already have at home.
Plus, it’s a no-rinse formula, so you can spray and walk away. How awesome is that?
Tools and Materials:
- ½ cup hydrogen peroxide (keeps things bright and clean, but skip this if you have dark grout)
- ½ cup rubbing alcohol (helps it dry fast—no streaks here!)
- 1 teaspoon dish soap (the grease-fighting kind)
- 1 tablespoon rinse aid (to keep spots at bay)
- 3 cups water (just good ol’ H2O)
- 32 oz spray bottle (preferably dark to protect the peroxide)
- Funnel (trust me, this makes pouring so much easier!)

1. Prepare Your Spray Bottle
First things first—grab your spray bottle. If you’re reusing an old one, make sure it’s clean.
A dark-colored bottle is ideal because hydrogen peroxide breaks down in light.
If you do not have a dark bottle, don't worry, just slip an old sock over it and store it in a dark place to keep it potent.
2. Mix the Magic Potion
Place your funnel in the spray bottle opening and pour in ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide.
Then, add ½ cup of rubbing alcohol. These two ingredients are the real powerhouses of this cleaner—one brightens and the other speeds up drying time.
Next, add 1 teaspoon of dish soap. This helps cut through any soap scum or body oils left behind after your shower.
After that, pour in 1 tablespoon of rinse aid.
3. Add the Water
Slowly pour in 3 cups of water. Depending on your bottle, it might foam up a bit, especially if you’re using an old bottle that still has some soap residue.
If you’re reusing a 32 oz bottle, you can just top it off with water—no need to measure.
Once all the ingredients are in the bottle, put the top back on securely. Then, tip the bottle back and forth gently to mix everything together.
Don’t shake it too hard—you don’t want a bubbly mess on your hands! The ingredients will blend perfectly with just a few tips back and forth.

How to Use Your DIY Daily Shower Cleaner Spray
Here’s the best part—using this spray couldn’t be easier. After every shower, simply give the walls and glass of your shower a quick mist. No need to rinse, no need to wipe. Just spray and walk away!
The ingredients will work together to prevent soap scum and water spots, so your shower stays cleaner longer.
A Little Warning About Dark Grout
If you have dark-colored grout, you might want to skip the hydrogen peroxide in this recipe. While it’s fantastic for keeping things bright, it can fade darker grout over time.
A Few Extra Tips and Tricks
- Storage Tip:Â Remember, hydrogen peroxide is sensitive to light, so if your spray bottle is clear, wrap it in a sock or store it in a dark cabinet to keep it effective.
- Customize Your Scent: Want your bathroom to smell like a spa? Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the mix. I love using lavender or eucalyptus for a fresh, calming scent.
- Label It: If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a lot of homemade cleaners around the house. Make sure to label this one clearly so you don’t accidentally grab the wrong bottle. (Been there, done that!)
