Hello, hope this helps you out, Spray undiluted vinegar onto the rust spots, let it sit for about 10 minutes, and then scrub with a sponge, You can then put a coat of rustoleum on it. Let that 1st coat dry completely, than add a second coat. Switch out the old shower curtain rings with new plastic ones or metal ones with the rollers on them to keep from scratching up your new paint.
I had luck spraying WD40 on a paper towel and rubbing over the shower curtain rod.
