Reimagined Cube Storage
In a house of 2 kids, toys are often everywhere. By the end of the day after cleanup time I want storage that not only contains the mess, but hides it from sight until the next morning.
A few months ago I purchased a 3x3 cube storage and put it together for all those toys. I loved having a place for all that mess to go, but hated the fact there was no way to conceal its contents. I had a project on my hands and while brainstorming came up with the perfect option.
Adding doors to this cube storage wouldn't only look good but be the perfect way to keep the toys out of sight when not in use. Functional and decorative!
The storage shelf served its purpose, but after some thought I knew adding simple white doors would be perfect! With some leftover wood, no plans and a few simple tools I got to work.
With my trusty tape measure I measured out the height and width of the shelves from top to bottom. I then traced those dimensions onto my leftover plywood pieces, and cut out 2 exact rectangles using an electric saw.
After measuring and cutting it was time to paint. With my paintbrush and flat, white paint I applied 2 coats to each panel.
While the paint on my panels was drying I added small hinges for the doors. I placed 1 hinge on the far top right side of the storage cube, and 1 hinge on the far right bottom side of the storage cube. Then repeated this one the far left side of the storage cube, adding 2 hinges for the left panel door.
With my drill, I screwed the left and right panel onto the hinges to create the doors.
To make sure the doors stay closed I also added 1 magnet to the inside of each door.
The final touch on this reimagined storage cube was adding knobs! I had extras lying around and placed these onto the doors for decoration and function.
After all is said and done, I am really content with the results! The toys have a home and aren't an eyesore in my family room.

Omg, this is just the solution I’ve been looking for! Not too hard for a novice like me either. Thank you for the super idea!
