Hot Glue Art
Let's make celestial wall art with hot glue!
We are going to start this hot glue art off with two small canvases. You could also use medium or large ones, depending on where you want to go or hang.
You want to have the two canvases, almost touching, and then take a brightly colored pencil and draw a half-circle on both canvases; this will make the next few steps a lot easier. I also added a few smaller circles to the semi-circle as well.
Use the semicircle as a guide and line your ruler up at the corner of the canvas. Draw lines of various lengths out from the edge of the semi-circle. I drew 12 lines in total on each piece, but you can draw more or less. Just make sure to not overcrowd it.
Next, you want to outline the semicircle with hot glue. Go over it a few times to give it more texture and to raise it.
You also want to do this to the details as well. My first canvas was going to be a moon so those were the craters.
Work on covering all of the lines going off of the semi-circles as well. You might need to go over those lines at least two times, or possibly more to get them raised a bit.
The second canvas, which is going to be a sun, needs some texture in the inner portion so make dots with the glue gun and move it around rapidly. It might look a little messy now, but it will look beautiful later.
After all of the texture is created with the glue gun, brush an adhesive or glue all over the canvas. I used an acrylic Medium as an adhesive, but you could always use glue or anything like that.
Then, sprinkle sand on the top of the damp canvas and shake off any extra.
Fill in any blank spots that are left behind with adhesive and sand and then let this layer dry.
Once dry, take the canvases outside and spray paint them. I did one black and one white. I kept them close to get a bit of overspray on both black and white.
After everything is dry, use a small paintbrush and some gold cover to go over the top of the glue lines. Be sure to work slowly to get it all on top of the glue.
Finally, find a place to hang or place your hot glue art. I chose my mantel and they look absolutely beautiful.
