Decorative Ribbon Easter Egg DIY

This sophisticated handmade Easter craft will add an elegant look and wow factor to your holiday seasonal décor. And you won't believe how easy and inexpensive it is to create using ribbon! It's truly a lovely and elegant decorative accent you can display all season long!
Begin by wrapping a large faux egg with double sided tape, up, down, and around separately several times. It's best to remove the paper facing before adding each new wrap.
Then, at the center bottom of the egg, place the end of 1/4" ribbon on top of the tape and begin wrapping the egg, up to the top and around back down to the bottom. Continue wrapping egg, crisscrossing at top and bottom, slightly overlapping ribbon edge all the way around as you wrap.
The ribbon will automatically stick to the tape and make sure you are smoothing the ribbon out tautly as you wrap and crisscross. Quickly lift the ribbon to smooth out or straighten overlapping areas if you make a mistake while wrapping.
Continue wrapping down and up, crisscrossing and overlapping until . . .
the egg is completely covered. Once covered, hold the ribbon taut at the bottom, cutting off excess and gluing down with a small dab of hot glue.
Make ribbon flowers by cutting 5/8" ribbon into 1.5" strips for the petals. You need five petals per flower. Hold the ribbon strip using tweezers over the heat of a candle flame until the end curls. Don't get too close or it will burn. You might have to practice a bit to master this technique.
Make a pleat on opposite end and seal with flame heat. Make lots of petals.
Add a dab of glue on lower middle edge of one petal and place edge of another petal on top. Glue a total of five petals together. Then glue the first and fifth petal edges together upright, forming flower.
Next, fold stamen stem together and insert into center of flower. Continue to insert stamens separately, three folded into center, and adjusting heights. Squeeze the stems together with the outer base of flower and seal with hot glue. Cut off stamen stems after glue dries.
Arrange flowers in a decorative design and glue in place on egg.
Make ribbon leaves by cutting 2" strips of 5/8" or wider ribbon. Fold lengthwise and place the tip of tweezers on the diagonal and cut off, leaving 1/16" ribbon edge. Seal edge with heat of flame.
Turn ribbon out to mimic leaf.
Place ribbon leaves around flowers and glue in place. You can get really creative with your flower designs!

Thanks, Susan! There is absolutely no sewing involved with this creation. What you see are the finished edges of the ribbon that was there when I bought the ribbon.

I have looked everything over a couple of times and still do not know what the stamens are made of or if you bought them and where? I love the idea and want to try it, but that one thing has me stumped thus far. I am sure it will not go as well as I think, but here I go.
Confused where the stamens are put on. Did you poke them through the center of the flower? Was there an opening in center for stamens to pass through? Very cute idea and well put into action.
Did you hot glue the larger bottom of the egg to the candle holder?
