Create a Little Christmas Tree Farm

It's time to start decorating for the holiday season. Each year I enjoy working on new projects that are fun and utilize the vintage pieces I collect all year! My love of old door knobs and bottle brush trees have come together to create my own little Christmas tree farm. See how I combined these little treasures to create something magical.
My Christmas decorations at the antique mall.
I have been collecting old and vintage door knobs for years. Something about these knobs attached to majestic doors, leading to dreamy rooms fascinates me.
Vintage & old door knobs
These are some of the vintage door knobs that I collected this year. Brass, glass, Crystal or metal door knobs will work for this project. Just make sure they are flat on the bottom and have the ability to stand flat on a table. You do not want a wobbly tree! I purchase mine at auctions, flea markets and garage sales. If at all possible, I don't pay more than $4.00 for a pair of knobs.
Bottle brush trees
Bottle brush Christmas trees or any little pine tree decoration is needed. These trees can be purchased at craft stores in several different sizes, shapes and colors. I added a silver tinsel tree this year and love the result!
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
You will need a hot glue gun and glue sticks.
Little glass ornaments
Tiny, little ball ornaments or any little {I mean really little} ornaments will work. The decorations are optional. They are beautiful with or without decorations!
Door knob Christmas trees.
I remove the bottom from the bottle brush trees. You will not need them, but save them. {You never know when you will need them for the next project.}

Make sure the door knobs are clean and the center opening of the knob is clear. Also make sure the screw is in the side of the door knob. No worry if the screw is missing, place a piece of duct tape over the hole. This keeps the hot glue from coming out of the little hole in the side of the door knob.

Take the hot glue gun and release the glue into the hole in the top of the door knob. Make sure to have your bottle brush tree ready to place in the hole at the top of the knob. The hot glue will set up after a couple of minutes, so be ready. I hold the tree in place until the hot glue sets up. These trees are flexible, so if you need to adjust it to straighten the tree, you can do that.

If you don't want to decorate your trees, you are done! Easy peasy and so cute! If you want your trees decorated, start hanging your little ornaments. On my silver tinsel trees I place a dot of hot glue on the tree limb and then place the bulb in the dot of glue. The glue will keep the bulb from falling off.

These tree are unique and adorable! They make wonderful hostess gifts for your holiday parties. Group them together for a Christmas tree farm or place them in a holiday vignette. Enjoy them for years to come!
