Many years ago, I came across this idea and used them as a “favor” at my Christmas table. I had almost forgotten about it until a small package arrived from a dear, dear friend who recently moved to Florida. She knew I was going thru a hard time and mailed the “gift” back to me with a note: “I think you need this.” It literally brought me to tears; not sad tears, happy tears. Knowing that my gift had come full circle.
The project starts with the poem:
Gathered my materials
Then I cut (with a serrated kitchen knife) some Styrofoam into small rectangles. The size and shape is entirely up to us. I just use what I have on hand. Now the “box” had to be wrapped. The very first time I made these I used Christmas wrapping paper; but now I wanted it to span all holidays/events so I used brown craft paper that came as packing material in the last shipment of dog food we got.
I used small amounts of hot glue to seal the back and sides of the wrapping paper.
Tied on the kitchen twine; but you certainly can use ribbon here.
Added the poem. HAPPY CRAFTING EVERYONE!
Enjoyed the project?
