Lay a tile in the bath

1. Prepare Your Bathtub

Start by removing your oven racks and placing a towel at the bottom of the bathtub. This simple step will prevent any scratches to your bath during the cleaning process.

2. Arrange the Oven Racks

Carefully place your oven grates on top of the towel in the bathtub. Now, it's time to turn up the heat—literally. Fill the bath with boiling water until the oven racks are fully submerged.

Add laundry powder

3. Add the Secret Ingredient

Take a cup of laundry detergent and generously pour it into the bath. The combination of hot water and detergent will work wonders on stubborn grime and grease.

Soak racks in the bath

4. Let It Soak

Leave the oven racks to soak in the bath for at least four hours. However, for optimal results, I recommend letting them sit overnight. Trust me; it's worth the wait!

5. Scrub Away

After the soaking session, it's time to roll up your sleeves and give the grates a good scrub. Use a scrub brush to remove any remaining residue.

Once the scrubbing is done, take the racks out and let them air dry. You'll be amazed at how clean and shiny they turn out.

You don't need the towel OR your bathtub---you can do the same thing in a large plastic storage bin, same exact instructions. Just without the tub or towel, and you can hose out the bin afterwards. 👍🏼 P.S.--I'd not be crazy about the grease-grime my towel would absorb.

This is a much better idea so your not washing grease down the tub drain. Otherwise you might need to move onto the next cleaning hack, how to unclog grease from drain. 😉
