Have you been putting off cleaning your microwave lately? I get it, it’s so easy to neglect this task, after all who is really going to notice since the door is always closed?

I have been using this simple method to clean my microwave for years, and it works wonderfully. Not only is it quick, natural and effective… it also takes under 10 minutes to complete. Once you try it and see the results you will wonder why you never tackled this task earlier.

Steam cleaning my microwave is something that I try to do once a month. It feels so nice opening up the microwave door and seeing a fresh and clean interior.

Read below to find out my favorite and fastest method of cleaning a microwave!

Here is a before shot of the microwaves interior. It’s not terrible, because I do try to stay on top of it, however there are several food splatters and it could use a cleaning to freshen it up.

Place two lemon quarters in a glass measuring cup or microwave safe bowl. Fill it 3/4 of the way with water and place it in the microwave.

Microwave for 5 minutes (or longer depending on how powerful your microwave is). Be careful when opening the microwave door as this does produce some steam.

Remove the measuring cup and turn plate.

Using a soft microfiber cloth wipe down the interior. The steam really helps to break apart any stuck on food and wiping out the microwave should be very easy. For very stubborn and stuck on messes I like to carefully dip the microfiber cloth into the hot lemon water and scrub it with that.

Once you have cleaned the interior, wash the glass turn plate in hot soapy water. Dry with a towel and put back in the microwave. Now everything is nice, clean and ready to go.

This method really works so well and leaves a clean, fresh lemon scent behind. I love that it is all natural and completely food safe. If you have extra lemon peels from cooking you can also use those instead of a new lemon.

I don't doubt this works. I bought a specially (made for microwave )container. It has a top with little holes. When the water heats up? The water steams out of the holes, like a steam iron! It uses water only. Easily cleans everytime! Cost less then 3.00 👍😉🤩
