Creating your own wooden door pulls is a quick and easy project that can add a unique touch to your home decor. With just a few materials and simple steps, you can make stylish door pulls for about six dollars each. Here's how I made mine.

Tools and materials

  • 5/8 inch dowel rod
  • Two 1/2 inch copper tee fittings
  • Spray paint (color of your choice)
  • Wood stain (your preferred shade)
  • Saw
  • Glue
  • Drill
  • Screws
  • Sandpaper

1. Cut the Dowel Rods:

First, I cut my 5/8 inch dowel rod into three pieces: two at 2 inches each and one at 12 inches. These pieces will form the main parts of the door pulls.

2. Prepare the Copper Tees:

Next, I took the 1/2-inch copper tee fittings and spray-painted them. You can choose any color that matches your decor. I chose a metallic shade to give it a modern look.

3. Stain the Dowel Rods:

After the paint dried on the copper tees, I stained the dowel rods. This adds a nice finish and enhances the wood's natural beauty. Allow the stain to dry completely before moving to the next step.

4. Assemble the Door Pulls:

I glued the two 2-inch dowel pieces into the ends of one copper tee fitting to create the handle's base. Then, I glued the 12-inch dowel piece into the middle of the other copper tee fitting. This longer piece will be the handle itself.

5. Attach the Pulls to the Door:

To attach the pulls to the door, I added a half-inch piece of dowel in the back of each copper tee. I drilled a hole through the door where I wanted to place the pull. Then, I inserted screws through the door into the half-inch dowel pieces to secure the handles.

And that's it! With these simple steps, I created my own wooden door pulls that add a custom touch to my doors. This project is not only easy but also budget-friendly. Comment below if you make your own drawer pulls.
